TAAP (The Autism Autoimmunity Project) is proud to announce that a $5,700 grant has been awarded to Dr. Vijendra Singh, who is the Associate Professor of Neuroimmunology at Utah State University.
Dr. Singh states:
"Approximately 20 years ago, I hypothesized that viruses and other infectious agents may cause a significant number of brain diseases and mental illnesses. Specifically, I tested this theory in autism. Recent immunological studies in my laboratory showed that autism in many cases may result from an "atypical measles infection" that most probably arises from the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) immunization. The measles subunit assaulting the immune system potentially causes an autoimmune reaction in many children with autism. More recently, I found that the vaccine-derived mercury was not related to autoimmunity. To expand my viral-autoimmunity research further, I would like to examine associations if any between viruses/vaccines and antibodies to brain constituents, in particular inflammatory proteins."
In order to have a full understanding of autism and related autoimmune disorders, it is imperative to investigate all the aspects of autoimmune dysfunction fueling the autism epidemic. Through DEFINITION, TREATMENT and PREVENTION we will continue to fund independent biological research and we invite you to help us by sending your tax deductible donations to TAAP (PO Box 293144 Davie, Fl 33329).
We applause Dr. Singh and our other research heroes, who in spite of their shoestring budgets won't compromise their integrity. We hope you will join us as we continue to "TAAP into the Truth."
